Tournament Series
Tournament Series
Our Tournament series is designed to be a higher-level series open to all golfers ages 11+. Players in this series will be playing their own ball throughout! Individuals will compete towards medalist honors at each of our events. This series is great for those who currently compete or want to compete against other golfers, and want to showcase their ability within the fun and social environment of Shooting Stars Golf.
How The Tournament Series Works
The Tournament Series starts with a series of drills, skill challenges, games, and tournaments that will help a player continue to learn, develop, and to test themselves. At each of the Tournament Series tournaments there will be an individual medalist. As we grow there will be a “Player of the Year” contest as well as a “Team of the Year” contest. The tournaments will be called Out Of The Rough Tournaments and the weekly games will be called Pin Seeker Games. We created this series for golfers to meet new players, showcase and continue to develop one’s ability, gain tournament experience, further cultivate a player’s character, and learn more about the game through fun and exciting events. No individual handicaps are required. You do not need to be a member to play in our tournament series.
Shooting Stars Golf MEDALIST – At each of the tournaments there will be an individual medalist for both the women and the men. There will also be a skills competition winner. There may be special skill challenges at each event as well. These will be announced in the “notice to contestants” information sheet at registration.
Shooting Stars Golf “PLAYER OF THE YEAR” – As we grow, all players will earn player of the year points based upon individual results for skill challenges, as well as for each tournament or game, and awarded based on the number of players at each event. Points to be determined later ,but examples as follows:
- The medalist for each age group will earn 125 points for Tournaments and 70 for Games. The remaining points schedule will be given at the conclusion of each tournament or game based on the number of players playing. The exact number of games and tournaments that will count is yet to be determined.
- Players accumulate additional Points at each of our events for a season long Skill Competition. There may be special skill challenges at each event as well. These will be announced in the “notice to contestants” information sheet at registration.
- There will be a bonus at the end of the season based on the points winner in each category throughout the season.
Shooting Stars Golf TEAM –As we grow, we will be including a team portion to each event as well. Teams will be 8 to 12 person teams. These teams can be comprised of different playing levels and any combination of both males and female players. Each team will have a team captain that will manage the team. The captain will be setting up the playing pairs for each event. The playing pairs do not have to be the same pairs for each event. Each of these teams will now choose a home course and that will be there main location as we grow and expand the team portion for some new and fun team events. All teams at this point will earn season long “Team of the Year” points based on how they finish in their respective tournaments, weekly unique style games, and skill challenges throughout the season. These points will be used in multiple ways to be a guide for things to work on.
Our plan also is to have qualifying pairs (Chosen by peers, coaches, and captains) represent their course in the Shooting Stars Golf Cup in the Fall. This will be a Ryder Cup style event. Each course will be allowed to bring up to 8 players, with 3 of the 4 pairs counting towards their total, including challenge points for their total tournament score. Depending on number of home courses, this may change.
Shooting Stars Golf “TEAM OF THE YEAR” As we grow, all teams will earn season long “Team of the Year” points based on team results at each tournaments or game, and awarded based on the number of teams at each event. Points will be awarded as follows:
- The top scoring team will earn 175 points for Tournaments and 100 points for Games. The remaining points schedule will be given at the conclusion of each tournament or game based on the number of teams playing.
- Team accumulate additional Points at each of our events for season long Skill Competition. There may be special skill challenges at each event as well. These will be announced in the “notice to contestants” information sheet at registration.
- There will be a team bonus at the end of the season based on the team points winner in each category throughout the season.
Shooting Stars Golf Drills – Throughout the season, the team will be working on a set of drills that unlike exercising for fitness, are sport-specific movements to enhance your game. Drills allow your body to mimic the same movements performed during a game to create muscle memory and improve technique.
Shooting Stars Golf Challenge Days – Throughout the season there will be different challenge days for the players to test their skills at. We will be using these results for things to work on.
Out Of The Rough Tournaments – A fun tournament for the players. The stroke play scoring format will be utilized for the Out Of The Rough Tournaments. The Out of The Rough Tournaments will be 18-to-36-hole tournaments. Each Out of The Rough Tournament is designed to be unique and fun to test your skill and challenge yourself.
Pin Seeker Games – A fun game day for the players. The stroke play scoring format will be utilized for the Pin Seekers Games. Each of the Pin Seekers Games will be 9 holes. Each Pin Seekers Game is designed to be unique and fun to test your skill and challenge yourself. This will include an individual competition as well as a team competition.
TOURNAMENT SERIES FORMATS
All Tournaments and Games are played using your own ball throughout. For the team portion we will be using a best ball format. In a Best Ball, each individual plays out the hole with their own ball and the lower of the two individual scores is the ‘team’ score. Our events will have a player or team pair randomly paired with another player or team pair from another team to create better score keeping accountability. Since this is a competition, we try to eliminate the opportunity for unethical behavior.
