On The Fringe Series
On The Fringe Series
Our On The Fringe Series is designed to be a more relaxed series open to all golfers ages 11 +. Players in this series will not be playing their own ball throughout. Players in this series will be playing in multiple formats like alternate shot, different scrambles, etc. All our events are designed to be unique and fun to test your skill and challenge yourself. Our events are designed for different levels of play and age levels. All of our events will have a challenge for the team. This series is great for businesses, churches, existing leagues, those golfers who want to work on different areas of their games, experience different fun golf formats, gain experience, and learn more about the game all while playing in a fun social team environment. Golfers who have a love of the game and want to give back are all welcomed and encouraged to play.
How The ON THE FRINGE Series Works
The On The Fringe Series starts with a group of golfers, who continue to learn and develop together all while playing golf through a series of drills, skill challenges, weekly games, and tournaments to continue to test themselves, learn new ways to enjoy golf and keep excited about the game, and improving their skills. The tournaments will be called Fairway To Fun Tournaments and the weekly games will be called Pairings Paradise Games. We created this series for golfers to meet new players, experience different fun golf formats, gain tournament experience, continue to develop one’s golfing abilities, further cultivate a player’s character, and learn more about the game through fun and exciting team events. No individual handicaps are required. You do not need to be a member to play in our fun games series.
Shooting Stars Golf Winner's Circle - At each of the tournaments there will be a team winner. There will also be a Team skill competitions winner. There may be special skill challenges at each event as well. These will be announced in the “notice to contestants” information sheet at registration.
Shooting Stars Golf Team –Teams will be 2 person teams the first year. These teams can be comprised of different playing levels and any combination of both males and female players. Play in as many weekly games and different partners as you would like.
As we grow these teams will also grow to 8 to 12 person teams. Each of these teams will now choose a home course and that will be there main location as we grow and expand the team portion for some new and fun team events. All teams at this point will earn season long “Team of the Year” points based on how they finish in their respective tournaments, weekly unique style games, and skill challenges throughout the season. These points will be used in multiple ways to be a guide for things to work on.
Our plan also is to have qualifying pairs (Chosen by peers, coaches, and captains) represent their course in the Shooting Stars Golf Cup in the Fall. This will be a Ryder Cup style event. Each course will be allowed to bring up to 8 players, with 3 of the 4 pairs counting towards their total, including challenge points for their total tournament score.
Shooting Stars Golf “TEAM OF THE YEAR” As we grow, all teams will earn season long “Team of the Year” points based on team results at each tournaments or game, and awarded based on the number of teams at each event. Points will be awarded as follows:
- The top scoring team will earn 175 points for Tournaments and 100 points for Games. The remaining points schedule will be given at the conclusion of each tournament or game based on the number of teams playing. The exact number of games and tournaments that will count is yet to be determined.
- Teams accumulate additional Points at each of our events for a season long Skill Competition. There may be special skill challenges at each event as well. These will be announced in the “notice to contestants” information sheet at registration.
- There will be a team bonus at the end of the season based on the team points winner in each category throughout the season.
Stars Golf DRILLS – Throughout the season, players will be working on a set of drills that unlike exercising for fitness, are sport-specific movements to enhance your game. Drills allow your body to mimic the same movements performed during a game to create muscle memory and improve technique.
Shooting Stars Golf Challenge Days– Throughout the season there will be different challenge days for the players to test their skills at. We will be using these results for things to work on.
Fairway To Fun Tournaments – A fun tournament for players. The stroke play scoring format will be utilized for the Fairway To Fun Tournaments for the majority of the Fairway To Fun Tournaments. The Fairway To Fun Tournaments will be 18-to-36-hole tournaments. Each Tournament is designed to be unique and fun to test your skill and challenge yourself.
Pairings Paradise Games – A fun event for players. A Pairings Paradise game consists of a 2-person team competing against all other 2-person teams in the event. The stroke play scoring format will be utilized for the majority of the Pairings Paradise Games. Each Pairings Paradise Game will be 9 holes. Each Game is designed to be unique and fun to test your skill and challenge yourself.
ON THE FRINGE SERIES FORMATS
All Tournaments and Games are played using Multiple Formats like a scramble, best ball, or alternate shot. In a scramble format, players choose which ball position to play, and one player picks up and places their ball at the same position as their teammate. In a Best Ball, each individual plays out the hole with their own ball and the lower of the two individual scores is the ‘team’ score. Each Tournament and weekly game will be played in a 2-person team format the first year to create better score keeping accountability. Since this is a competition, we try to eliminate the opportunity for unethical behavior.
