Code of Conduct

Players acknowledge that the purpose of Dolphin Recreation Team is to have fun with friends. Players agree to demonstrate sportsmanship, teamwork, and a positive attitude.

All Dolphin Recreation Team participants MUST adhere to the Code of Conduct guidelines. Violations may result in penalties and/or disqualification from an event. Repeated violations could result in permanent suspension. The Dolphin Recreation Team code of conduct has been instituted to ensure an enjoyable experience for each and every person playing in our events. All Dolphin Recreation Team participants are expected to abide by all rules and regulations set forth for each event.

By submitting an entry, or by participating in any Dolphin Recreation Team event, the player understands that their participation is at the sole discretion of Dolphin Recreation Team. The player’s entry may be rejected for any event, at the discretion of Dolphin Recreation Team, at any time before the close of the competition. Unbecoming conduct or actions at any Dolphin Recreation Team event, or conduct or action deemed detrimental to Dolphin Recreation Team, other participants or staff, the spirit of the game, or to the host facilities are ground for such rejection. These include, but are not limited to:

  • Cheating.

  • Inappropriate event attire.

  • Alcohol and/or substance impaired behavior.

  • Willful destruction of golf course or property.

  • Theft

  • Abusive language, conduct or derogatory criticism of the Series and/or host facility staff, volunteers, or other players.

  • Equipment throwing and/or physical derangement or threat of others.

  • Offensive or excessively loud behavior.

  • Repeated withdrawals, no shows, or no cards turned in after the completion of a round.

  • Failure to abide by the Rules of Golf or a decision by an official
  • Poor sportsmanship, conduct or behavior in  general

SAFETY -  Prior to playing a stroke or making a practice swing, the player should make sure that no one is standing close by or in a position to be hit by the club, ball, or any objects that may be moved by the stroke of swing.

STEWARDSHIP - All players have the responsibility of taking care of the course. Some common acts that will make the game more pleasurable for others include:

  • Before leaving a bunker, full up and smooth over all holes and footprints.
  • Through the green, a player should ensure that any turf cut or displaced by him is replaced at once and pressed down and that any damage to the putting green made by a ball (not necessarily just his) is carefully repaired. Damage to the putting green caused by golf shoe spikes should be repaired on completion of the hole.
  • Players should ensure that, when putting down bags or the flagstick, no damage is done to the putting green. To avoid this possibility, place these items off the green. Make sure the flagstick is removed and replaced properly in the hole. Players should not damage the putting green by leaning on their putters, particularly when removing the ball from the hole. If you are wearing golf spikes, make sure you lift your feet on the green.
  • In take practice swings, players should avoid causing damage to the course, particularly the tees, by removing divots.
  • Use trash receptacles for all waste. If you see litter, pick it up and deposit it in the next trash receptacle.

GOLF COURSE BEHAVIOR - Golf is a game of concentration and flow. SSG will not tolerate poor behavior at the host facility. All participants are expected to carry themselves as ladies and gentlemen at all times. Swearing, club throwing, yelling, and cheating will not be tolerated. To provide your fellow competitors the courtesy they deserve, follow these simple rules:

  • No one should move, talk, or stand close to or directly behind the player, ball, or the hole when a player is addressing the ball or making a stroke. For etiquette purposes, do not talk or move while another player is addressing their ball or swinging.
  • The player who has the honor should be allowed to play before his opponent or fellow competitor tees the ball.
  • No player should play until the players in front are out of range.
  • Players should follow the Pace of Play policy.
  • When the play of a hole has been completed, players should immediately leave the putting green.

PROPER BALL MARK REPAIR

  • Many golfers are unaware of the proper method for repairing ball marks on the green. Not repairing a ball mark in the correct manner can cause harm to the green. When repairing a ball mark on the green, insert your tool at the outer circumference of the mark and gently press the tool in toward the center of the mark. Repeat this motion around the perimeter of the mark then gently press down on the mark with your foot or flat bottom of putter.
  • Repair all marks on the green even if they are not yours. Do this only if you are not holding up play or interfering with a playing partner's putting stroke.

APPRECIATION OF GOLF COURSE AND STAFF - It is appropriate to express your appreciation to the host facility at the conclusion of an event. The golf course staff works very hard to ensure the course is in great shape and that we can have an enjoyable event. This significantly affects SSG being able to return to that particular facility in the future. Please set a great example for your child and all people present. As a spectator we ask that you also respect our volunteers and Tournament staff. If it weren't for the staff members and volunteers, SSG would not be able to run the caliber of event that you prefer.

PLAYER RIGHTS - If a fellow competitor believes an infraction may occur or has occurred, he/she should inform the players involved and notify a SSG event official as soon as possible. Under the Rules of Golf, you may play a "Doubt as to Procedure" ball (USGA Rule 3-3), advising the marker with which ball you wish to score. Both scores must be marked on the score card. Do NOT sign the scorecard until a rule decision has been made by the Committee. Failure to report the situation to SSG before returning the score card will result in disqualification. The player is responsible for the hole-by-hole score, not the total. After completion of each hole, the- player and marker should agree upon the correct hole score. If a player signs for a score (on a hole) that is lower than actually taken, IT WILL RESULT IN DISQUALIFICATION. A higher score will stand.  If there is doubt as to what occurred in a particular instance, all members of your pairing (and scorer if applicable) must meet at the end of the round with Tournament officials to resolve the issue. If (3) complaints are filed against any one player, that player will not be allowed to participate in future events.

DRUGS, ALCOHOL, AND TOBACCO - SSG does not allow the use of these products. These products will not be allowed on the golf course or any facility affiliated with the event. The use of these products will result in disqualification and possible suspension from future.

CODE OF CONDUCT VIOLATION PENALTIES - The SSG Tournament Committee, based on severity and frequency of the violation(s), may in accordance with Rule 33·7:                                                                                                                  ·

  • Warn the player
  • Issue a one stroke penalty for breach of  conduct
  • Disqualify the player from the Tournament  at which the violation occurs,  or
  • Depending on the severity of the violation, a Tournament disqualification may also result in disqualification from the next Tournament(s) for which a player has been accepted.
  • SSG reserves the right to suspend or revoke a player's membership or entries for a serious breach of the SSG Code of Conduct.
  • A player's disregard of others is not limited to the current round but may include repeated offenses from Tournament to Tournament
